Cozaint Corporation has announced the commercial availability of its patented MARCIA platform for Milestone XProtect video management software environments, enabling organizations to extend video retention beyond traditional primary-storage limits.

MARCIA provides Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management (IVLM) by continuously replicating newly recorded video from XProtect to LTO-based long-term storage, typically within a couple of minutes of the original write. The company says the approach provides a lower-cost architecture for long-term video surveillance retention.

Video retention has historically been constrained by the cost of disk-only storage. As camera counts, resolutions, frame rates, compliance requirements, legal exposure and AI analytics use cases expand, organizations increasingly need to preserve video beyond standard 30-, 60- or 90-day overwrite cycles, according to Cozaint.

“The surveillance industry has spent more than thirty years optimizing how little video it can afford to keep,” said Nauzad Sadry, chief technology officer of Cozaint. “MARCIA changes that equation for Milestone XProtect customers. By extending XProtect environments with long-term video lifecycle management and LTO-based retention, organizations can preserve the video history they may need for investigations, compliance, legal defense, operational intelligence, and future AI analysis.”

MARCIA operates in the background within an organization’s existing surveillance architecture while XProtect remains the primary platform for live viewing, recording, user management, alarms, investigations and security workflows.

Cameras continue recording into existing XProtect primary storage while MARCIA replicates and organizes newly recorded video onto LTO-based storage. Cozaint says this process does not interrupt ongoing XProtect recording or normal operator workflows.

For XProtect environments, MARCIA supports automated tiered-storage management, LTO-based preservation, camera/date/time-based retrieval, metadata-aware recall and restoration of historical video back into the XProtect workflow.

Cozaint also positions the platform as a way to preserve historical video for future AI and analytics applications. The company says preserving video over longer periods can support future analysis, pattern discovery, incident review and business intelligence.

Cozaint refers to this approach as Enterprise Visual Continuity, which it describes as preserving Trusted Visual Evidence over time so organizations can continue using and learning from video after it was recorded.
