Annapolis, Maryland, February 5, 2013—ARINC today announced that its AIM® (Advanced Information Management) platform has been selected by EnergySolutions for the Zion Nuclear Power Station Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) Project. ARINC was chosen after a rigorous competitive bid process that involved vendor presentations, product demonstrations, and proposal evaluations.

The Zion Nuclear Power Station, located on the shores of Lake Michigan, is in the process of being decommissioned. During the 10-year dismantling project, spent fuel will be transferred from the spent fuel pool into dry casks and placed into a newly constructed ISFSI structure. Under the agreement, ARINC will provide its Advanced Information Management (AIM®) software for the Security Computers System (SCS) as the primary command and control platform for monitoring and control of Zion’s ISFSI facility. The AIM SCS platform is compliant with numerous CFR regulations as mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The ARINC AIM SCS solution will provide a full range of intrusion detection, video surveillance, access control, integrated badging and on-site security personnel. The major components of the AIM SCS solution are configured in an open architecture environment providing extremely high system availability figures for sustained operations 24 x 7 x 365. ARINC’s security solutions project team will perform a number of systems integration-related functions as part of the contract.

“We are excited to work with EnergySolutions on this important project,” said Frank Koren, Product Director of ARINC Security Systems. “Our AIM SCS technology is widely used for security command and control applications at over forty (42) nuclear plants throughout the US and Canada. ”ARINC’s AIM SCS solution will provide the value, stability and performance Zion requires, now and in the future.”

“We are pleased to partner with ARINC on this phase of the project to provide state of the art security and surveillance for the ISFSI structure,” said Patrick Daly, General Manager, Zion Nuclear Power Station. .

ARINC is the only ISO 9001:2008 company supplying NRC-compliant systems and its AIM SCS solution dominates the industry with 58% of all US NRC facilities standardizing on ARINC’s platform. The Zion Nuclear Power Station is the first Exelon Corporation installation to use the AIM solution.
