Zenitel has introduced two IP speaker kits aimed at giving partners greater flexibility to develop customized speaker solutions for specific applications and project requirements.

The Zenitel Indoor IP Speaker Kit (ZIPS-K) and Outdoor IP Speaker Kit (ZIPS-KOE) build on the company’s IP speaker technology, which Zenitel says it first introduced in 2010. Since then, the company has expanded its IP speaker portfolio to address public address, security and operational communication requirements.

The new kits make Zenitel’s IP speaker technology available as a building block for customized speaker designs. Partners can develop IP speakers around specific form factors and acoustic requirements while using the audio, networking and management capabilities behind Zenitel’s IP speaker portfolio.

According to the company, the kits can support applications where a standard speaker enclosure may not be an ideal fit. By combining a kit with an appropriate loudspeaker and enclosure, partners can develop solutions tailored to individual applications while maintaining Zenitel’s audio processing and IP communication technology.

The IP Speaker Kits will also serve as the technology foundation for Zenitel’s own IP speaker portfolio. The company says the kits will replace its existing IP module while expanding the capabilities of its IP speakers.

Zenitel said the common technology foundation will allow it to continue developing its IP speaker portfolio while providing partners with access to the same underlying technology for specialized applications.

The kits also extend the company’s Unified Critical Communication (UCC) offering by enabling public address and communication capabilities within a broader unified communication environment. Zenitel said the kits and its IP speaker portfolio can be combined with platforms such as Zenitel Connect and services such as Zenitel Cloud RMM to support the deployment, management and evolution of critical communication solutions as operational requirements change.

“With the Zenitel IP Speaker Kits, we are taking the technology behind our IP speakers and making it available in a much more flexible form,” said Mikkjell Rommetveit, Senior R&D Project Manager at Zenitel. “Our partners increasingly need solutions adapted to specific environments and applications. Rather than limiting to a specific speaker design, the new kits give them the freedom to build any type of speakers while keeping Zenitel technology at the core.”

Rommetveit added, “For us, this is also about extending the Zenitel ecosystem. Whether customers choose a complete Zenitel IP speaker or a customized speaker built with Zenitel inside, they can benefit from the same trusted foundation for critical communication.”
