SS&Si Dealer Network Acquires FAST Security Distribution

With FAST Security Distribution, SS&Si expands its branch network and brings new value-added services to dealers across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

SS&Si Dealer Network has acquired certain assets of FAST Security Distribution, the distribution arm of Hagerstown, Md.-based First Action Security Team, in a move that significantly expands its geographic reach and dealer network.

Announced August 1, the acquisition brings together two independent distributors that have long shared a customer-first philosophy. FAST, founded in 1975, built its reputation by supporting independent alarm dealers across the country with reliable product access and personalized service. As part of the transaction, SS&Si has retained the FAST team to ensure a smooth transition and maintain existing dealer relationships.

“FAST has a long track record of putting dealers first, which aligns perfectly with our values,” Jake Voll, president of SS&Si, told SecurityInfoWatch. “This acquisition accelerates our expansion into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Hagerstown’s location is strategically ideal, and we’re excited to welcome a great team and strong dealer relationships into the SS&Si family.”

With the addition of FAST’s Hagerstown location, SS&Si’s branch footprint now includes Deltona, Fla.; Huntsville, Ala.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Hagerstown, providing 1-2 day ground shipping to more than 80% of the U.S. population.

To ensure continuity, Kevin Dunham will continue leading the Hagerstown branch. “We’re keeping what made FAST great with the same people, same service and we're building on it,” Voll said. “Dealers can count on the same pricing and day-to-day support they’re used to.”

Voll added that former FAST customers will also gain access to new tools and services as part of the SS&Si network, including online ordering and bill pay, private labeling options, and a broader inventory backed by vendor programs. “Our goal is to make this transition seamless while giving dealers more tools to grow,” he said.

The acquisition marks a new chapter for FAST, building on its nearly 50-year legacy, and reflects SS&Si’s commitment to creating a national network of independently minded dealers supported by value-added distribution, Voll commented.

Trey Alter, president of First Action Security Team, praised the fit between the two companies. “It was clear from the start there was no better choice than Jake and the team at SS&Si. They’re redefining excellence in distribution, and I know our dealers will now have access to more opportunities than we ever could have provided,” he stated in the announcement.

As the security distribution market continues to consolidate, Voll said SS&Si is focused on standing apart from larger players and from e-commerce giants.

“As consolidation ramps up, we believe the real threat to big-box distributors isn’t each other. It’s Amazon,” he said. “That’s why we aim to be the anti-Amazon: fast shipping, yes, but backed by real relationships, product expertise and value-added services like private labeling. That’s how we stay competitive and distinctive.”
