The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) has opened nominations for its 2026 Security Technician of the Year Awards, a program recognizing technicians for technical expertise, customer service and leadership within the industry.

Award recipients will be honored during a recognition ceremony on June 4 at ESX 2026.

Security technicians play a central role in the industry, responsible for designing, installing, servicing and maintaining systems that protect people, property and critical assets. These professionals often work on the front lines solving complex technical challenges, ensuring system reliability and mentoring the next generation entering the field.

First introduced in 2023 through a collaboration between the Electronic Security Association, Security Industry Association (SIA) and PSA Security Network, the awards were created to spotlight technicians whose behind-the-scenes work has a significant impact on the industry.

The program recognizes individuals who demonstrate leadership, integrity and a strong understanding of how each installation, service call and customer interaction contributes to the profession’s overall value.

“Each year, the Security Technician of the Year Awards remind us just how much talent, dedication, and professionalism exist within the technician community,” said John Nemerofsky, chair of the FAST Board of Directors and chief operating officer of SAGE Integration.

“As an industry, it’s essential that we continue to invest in technicians by supporting training, career development, and recognition programs like these awards,” added Taylor Carr, FAST board member and president of Allied Universal Technology Services.

FAST is encouraging integrators, manufacturers, consultants and end users to submit nominations as part of an effort to strengthen the industry’s workforce. The nomination deadline is April 22.
