Founded in 2008, LEK built its business on fiber and copper cabling projects and has grown into a regional provider serving commercial security and infrastructure needs.

Cobalt Service Partners announced it has acquired LEK Technology Group, marking its 19th acquisition since launching in December 2023 and its second acquisition of 2026.

LEK, based in Prattville, Ala., was founded in 2008 by Erik Lubinger and Ginger Lubinger. The company specializes in security integration and cabling services. Prior to launching the business full time, Erik Lubinger worked as a government contractor while taking on fiber and copper cabling projects during off hours.

“The most rewarding part hasn’t just been building a successful business,” Erik Lubinger said. “It’s been the freedom it gave me to show up for my kids - coaching their teams, going on vacations, and sitting in dance recitals - and truly having the best of both worlds: a growing company and a present family life.”

The acquisition supports LEK’s continued growth and expands its access to additional resources and opportunities, according to the announcement.

“I believe partnering with Cobalt is the best next step for our team and our customers,” Erik Lubinger said. “The strength of the companies in Cobalt’s portfolio and the resources they bring - better training, access to larger and more complex projects, and new technologies - will help take our people and our company to a whole new level.”

As part of the transition, Erik Lubinger will remain CEO initially before moving into a role focused on sales and business development.

New York City-based Cobalt is owned and backed by Alpine Investors, a private equity firm specializing in software and services.
