barox and Digital Watchdog (DW) have announced the availability of a new integration connecting DW Spectrum IPVMS with barox video network infrastructure, bringing network visibility, diagnostics and control directly into the video management platform.
Developed by barox, the plugin connects DW Spectrum IPVMS with Device Management System (DMS) software agents embedded within barox Ethernet switches. The integration enables security and network teams to manage cameras, video streams and supporting network infrastructure through a single interface.
By providing direct access to network information and controls within DW Spectrum, operators can identify connectivity issues, diagnose faults and remotely address problems affecting IP video systems without switching between separate video and network management platforms.
Using barox RY-series Ethernet switches, the integration allows operators to display, control and diagnose cameras, switches and network connectivity through network topology and physical views. When a camera or network device stops responding, operators can select the device and issue a remote reboot command through the barox switch. They can also interrupt Power over Ethernet (PoE) to a connected camera, forcing it to reboot automatically or remotely.
These capabilities provide installers and system operators with a way to address camera degradation, frozen devices and other network-related issues. According to the companies, the integration can support faster fault diagnosis, reduced downtime and improved system availability while helping reduce unnecessary site visits and support costs. The barox plugin is also license-free.
DW Spectrum IPVMS is an open-architecture IP video management platform for viewing, recording and managing digital security camera systems. It supports third-party cameras, encoders and devices through standards including ONVIF and RTSP. The platform supports Windows, Linux and macOS, along with iOS and Android mobile applications, and can accommodate installations ranging from smaller systems to large, distributed enterprise deployments.
The integration extends DW Spectrum's capabilities by providing visibility into the network infrastructure supporting connected video devices. barox switches compatible with the integration are built for video security applications and incorporate ONVIF, specialized PoE capabilities, advanced cybersecurity, system resilience and network visibility.
The partnership adds to barox's network of integrations with Video Management System (VMS) and Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platforms. The company said its integration ecosystem gives installers and integrators flexibility in selecting technologies for their projects while providing purpose-built network hardware, intelligent diagnostics and integrated network management.
“We are delighted to announce our technology partnership with Digital Watchdog and the availability of our integration with DW Spectrum IPVMS,” said Reinhard Florin, president of barox Communication Corp. “The integration demonstrates the value of combining intelligent video networking with a leading video management platform, giving installers, integrators and system operators greater visibility and control of the infrastructure supporting their security systems.”
Patrick Kelly, senior director of strategy at Digital Watchdog, said the integration allows users to identify degrading cameras, locate devices within the network, diagnose faults and interrupt PoE to force a reboot from a single interface.
“A camera is only as reliable as the network behind it,” Kelly said. “Our technology partnership with barox brings that network into plain view inside DW Spectrum, so installers and system operators can finally see the infrastructure their cameras depend on.”
The integration is available now. The companies will also demonstrate the technology during Digital Watchdog's monthly “Works With” online webinar series on October 15 at 11 a.m. EST. The session, titled “Building an Intelligent Video Security Network Layer,” will cover the integration. Interested participants can register through the Works With DW Spectrum webinar page for barox Communications.
