Verkada Broadens Security Platform With Fleet, Audio and AI Capabilities

Verkada introduced new transportation, enterprise audio and AI capabilities alongside computer vision, access control, alarm and facility management updates at VerkadaOne 2026.

Verkada has expanded its physical security and operations platform with new offerings for vehicle fleets, enterprise audio and third-party AI integrations, along with updates across its video, access control, alarms and building operations portfolio.

The company announced the new capabilities Sept. 17 during its annual VerkadaOne customer conference in Miami, where more than 2,500 IT and physical security leaders gathered.

Software updates are scheduled to begin rolling out Oct. 8, while new hardware is expected to begin shipping in October and November.

Verkada Transportation targets fleet security

Among the announcements is Verkada Transportation, a new product line designed to extend the company’s platform to vehicles and assets in transit.

The offering includes three ruggedized camera models, a 5G and Wi-Fi vehicle gateway, integration with vehicle diagnostics and an enhanced Command experience. Passenger privacy is supported through face blurring.

Security teams can access footage from moving or parked vehicles and review driving events across a fleet to track safety and performance. Users can also search by GPS location, driving behavior or vehicle health.

Cloud-managed enterprise audio

Verkada also introduced Sound Systems, which brings cloud-based management to enterprise audio environments.

The platform provides a single interface for managing audio hardware, ambient music and announcements rather than using separate applications, local consoles and vendor portals.

The product lineup includes Network Audio Players that connect existing third-party speakers and amplifiers to Verkada Command. Network Speakers provide Power over Ethernet connectivity for deployment.

Catalyst connects Command with third-party AI platforms

Another addition is Catalyst, a read-only Model Context Protocol integration for Verkada Command.

Catalyst allows customers to connect approved third-party AI platforms including Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. Teams can use natural language to create operational workflows, reports and integrations.

Examples provided by Verkada include confirming whether shelves are stocked and triggering an IT ticket when a camera or sensor loses its network connection.

Catalyst will initially operate as a read-only tool, allowing organizations to retain control over agents and workflows.

Computer vision and platform updates

Verkada also announced several computer vision capabilities and updates across its product portfolio.

A new Live mode for the Unified Timeline is designed for real-time investigations. New alerts include wrong-way driving for industrial sites, blocked-door detection for entrances and exits, Transport Number Mode for tracking container IDs at logistics facilities and concealment and grab-and-run alerts for retail loss prevention.

The company also introduced a thermal camera series designed to identify people and vehicles in low-light environments, at longer distances, in adverse weather conditions and through obstructions such as bushes or trees. Six new FIPS-validated cameras are also being added to the portfolio.

A new integration with Skydio allows specified alerts in Command to automatically transmit Verkada camera GPS coordinates to Skydio. An autonomous drone can then be dispatched to the scene, with its footage brought into Command.

Access, alarms and facility management

Updates to Verkada’s entry and access offerings include the TK74 Touchscreen Intercom for multi-tenant buildings and the AW33 Wireless Access Controller for wireless lock deployments. The company also announced AI reception capabilities for front-desk workflows and employee check-in features for multi-site travel.

For alarms and detection, Verkada introduced the compact 10-zone BP42 Alarm Panel and Better Sensor Protocol, which supports daisy-chaining as many as 200 sensors across large sites. Fire alarm monitoring is also being added so organizations can manage fire safety alongside intrusion detection.

Verkada Maps provides a 3D digital twin of facilities within Command and displays Verkada devices in a single map-based view. When an event or alert occurs, the associated device is highlighted and displays a live preview of the activity that triggered it.
