At the Cloud Security Summit hosted this week by Brivo and Eagle Eye Networks, company executives announced the planned rollout of Brivo Door Station, a video reader that can be used for several security functions.
Built and sold exclusively for Brivo, the reader will allow customers to use just video or “go all in” with facial authentication and other advanced features. There will be no third-party subscriptions or other integrations to manage, the company said.
The Door Station has power-of-ethernet and Brivo connectivity built in, so it can be added to new or existing doors.
Billed as “video intelligence for optimized operations,” Door Station users will be able to create more efficient workflows though the ability to instantly compare the best-face frame of a user’s photo to someone entering the building, and through maintaining a visual record of all occupants across sites.
This could help certain customers eliminate physical credentials altogether by using facial recognition for authentication, the company said. Two-way audio and video for non-credentialed users and tailgating detection are other Door Station functions in the works.
Brivo executives said the Door Station is a good solution for access control as many existing cameras may have a poor angle to capture faces, may not be integrated with ACS, or may be focused on wide areas.
Jason Kaveney, Brivo’s director of product management, said Door Station would be ideal for existing Brivo customers in verticals such as commercial buildings and schools. Kaveney said it will start enrolling and equipping early access partners in the first half of 2023, with the initial product launch planned for the third quarter.
