Security 101 is expanding its leadership structure and national footprint as the security integrator continues a period of growth that the company says has nearly tripled its revenue over the past two years.

The West Palm Beach, Florida-based company has promoted Craig Shulman from chief financial officer to chief operating officer, placing him in charge of day-to-day operations and Security 101’s field organization. His responsibilities will include execution, accountability and consistent delivery across the company’s branch network.

“Craig has played a central role in building the foundation of the business and has been a trusted leader and strategic partner through the company's growth,” said Greg Daly, CEO of Security 101. “He reflects the standard we look for in our people, the kind of talent and commitment that has built our culture and driven our growth. Promoting him is a natural step, and I have tremendous confidence in his ability to help lead Security 101 through our next chapter.”

Security 101 has also expanded its regional leadership structure. Jamie Vos was promoted to vice president of sales and operations for the West Region as part of a regional vice president model the company is establishing across its footprint.

The company also named Mike Capra regional sales director for the South and John May regional sales director for the North. Regional leadership now reports through the COO, a structure Security 101 said is intended to create closer alignment between field teams and operational priorities.

Acquisition activity expands geographic reach

The organizational changes come as Security 101 continues an active acquisition strategy that has expanded its presence in several U.S. markets. The company now operates 62 branches and employs more than 1,000 people.

The company was acquired in February by investment funds managed by Morgan Stanley Capital Partners.

Recent acquisitions include Ford Industries in Salt Lake City, which extends the company’s presence in the Mountain West, and Blackhawk Security in Honolulu, which adds statewide coverage in Hawaii as well as experience in airports and critical infrastructure.

Security 101 also acquired True Security – East Bay, expanding its Northern California operations across markets including San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento. Its acquisition of Silverstrand Technologies in San Diego expanded coverage in Southern California, including Orange County, Los Angeles and Riverside.

In the Carolinas, Security 101 acquired Secure Lock Solutions in West Columbia, South Carolina, strengthening its coverage between Charlotte and Charleston.

The company has also moved beyond geographic expansion with its acquisition of AV-Worx, an audio-visual systems integrator specializing in control rooms, emergency operations centers and advanced visualization. Security 101 said the acquisition adds a complementary discipline that operates alongside electronic security in many of the environments it serves.

Across the transactions, Security 101 said it has retained established local leadership while bringing high-performing franchise partners into its corporate organization and adding independent integrators to its national platform.
